The Longer Version
It started in 2009. I had a business idea, needed a website, and got quoted prices that
made my stomach turn. Five thousand dollars? For a website? I couldn't justify it. So I
opened up a code editor and started figuring it out myself.
What started as necessity turned into a genuine skill set. I learned HTML and CSS. I got
obsessed with SEO - figuring out how to get sites to actually rank on Google. As for design?
My mentor Tim S., CEO of MatteBlack.com, told me over and over that my designs sucked. Until
one day they didn't. That persistence paid off: I built affiliate sites that led to two
6-figure exits. Today I still run my own ecommerce store.
Along the way, I built sites for friends. Then friends of friends. Then I realized
there were a lot of people like me: talented at what they do, trying to start something
real, but stuck because they didn't have a professional online presence.
The traditional agency model is broken for small businesses. Charging $5k+ upfront makes
sense if you're a funded startup or an established company. But what about the person who's
still working their day job while building something on the side? What about the entrepreneur
who has skills but not capital? I've been that person. Multiple times.
That's why I built RebootKC with a different model. I'll do the work upfront because I
believe in what you're building. You pay monthly because that's what makes sense when
you're just getting started. And if it doesn't work out, you can leave. No hard feelings.
